Chapter Youth Program Statement

The AMC-NY/NJ Chapter is delighted to announce the inception of the AMC Chapter Youth Program. Our volunteers are available to lead hikes or activities for youth group organizations and schools.

Please contact Richard Barcia, CYP coordinator, at chapteryouthprogram [at] amc-ny [dot] org if you're interested in becoming a volunteer or if you have recommendations for organizations that could use our services. Please consider getting involved and make a difference in the life of a child.

We're looking for anyone interested in becoming involved in any capacity with this new endeavor.  If you'd like to be a member of the CYP committee, or lead a youth activity, or even just offer suggestions and ideas, please let me know!

For anyone who wishes to be involved at a level with child contact, there are a few requirements.

  1. Leaders must have leadership training and have led activities or co-led at least 3.
  2. AMC Leaders will be checked against the NY Sex Offender Registration and NJ Sex Offender Internet Registry.
  3. You must have CPR/basic Wilderness First Aid training
  4. You must complete CYP training
  • Leadership Training course offered October 24th and 25th. (See Leadership page for details.)
  • CORI checking is free and we will send you the necessary forms upon request.
  • CPR/Wilderness First Aid class is available through the Wilderness First Aid Committee or theMochian Outdoor's Center (Please check schedule).
