Founded in 1876 and dedicated to promoting the protection, enjoyment, and stewardship of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Northeast outdoors, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is the nation’s oldest outdoor recreation and conservation organization.
The Young Members Committee of the AMC's New York-North Jersey Chapter organizes trips and events intended for AMC members in their 20s and 30s. These include the full range of activities offered by the club, as well as orientation and training events for new members and potential leaders. Our goal is to provide a gateway for younger and newer members to explore all that the club has to offer on their way to becoming active participants and leaders. Young Members Committee activities are open to all members, regardless of age, who meet the specific requirements of an event, such as physical fitness and equipment, but are specifically intended to provide a welcoming environment for those in their 20s and 30s.
