Explore this beautiful 1660 acre barrier beach peninsula designated by the National Park Service as a Gateway National Park and Recreational Area in New Jersey and enjoy the Atlantic Ocean and the Sandy Hook Bay which is only 40 minutes from Manhattan. Directions and Map.

Sandy Hook is a special place. This gateway provides an abundance of recreational and learning opportunities. It also is home of the nation’s oldest operating lighthouse, forts that defended America, and sites that traces aviation’s early days. The living world can be explored in a wildlife refuge, holly forest, ocean dunes and coastal uplands.

Working with the National Park Service, AMC has secured rental-residency at Fort Hancock’s Education Building 102 for the dates listed above. The building site accommodates 50 people in 15 rooms. You must bring your own linens or sleeping bag. The site has a ‘mess hall’ style kitchen and a large social room for people gathering, music, slideshows, movies and games.

This volunteered managed facility has leader run weekends and midweek activities. The facility is available to members, who may bring a guest. Families are welcomed midweek and children must be over 6 years of age. No smoking, no pets and no electronic devices are allowed.

Breakfast and dinner are included. Lunch is on your own. Meals are vegetarian friendly. Kitchen facilities are not available for use by members or guests. Members and guests may bring coolers. Also available are designated picnic areas as well as beach concessions.

Daily activities include boating, biking, birding, badminton, volleyball, croquet, bocce, historic tours, hikes, yoga, nightly programs and great camaraderie.
