Canoe and Kayak: West River, Jamaica, VT CL3 - Carpe Fluvio!

Date : Sep 25, 2010
Status : Open
Trip Difficulty : CL3
29827 Paddling
Carpe Fluvio! Fact is, this river has such an untenable status in our Northeast river repertoire that when it runs, you shouldn't. You must not pass up an opportunity to run it. The West is a step up from the Mongaup and a nice warm up for the Tohickon in November. Shuttle service operated by park staff makes two, even three, runs in one day very possible. Local vendors and outfitters set up shop at the take-out, making for a fest-like atmosphere. We recommend, but do not arrange, camping for Friday night, as the drive from the NYC area is over 4 hours.

This is a real wilderness experience! Canoes on our yellow fleet trailer might be available at the put-in, if sufficient demand.
